Czech rider inherits victory as Savadori retires.

Ondrej Jezek (Barni Racing Ducati) took the first win of his career after a determined ride to fend off Fabio Massei (EAB Racing Ducati) in the third round of the FIM Superstock 1000cc Cup at Imola today.

Taking the lead at the end of the opening lap, Lorenzo Savadori (Pedercini Kawasaki) had built up a commanding lead only to be ruled out of contention as his Kawasaki suffered a technical problem. This allowed Ondrej Jezek to inherit the lead although the Czech rider faced intense pressure from Massei until the end.

Behind the top 2, Leandro Mercado (Barni Racing Team) was a lonely third, Romain Lanusse (Pedercini Kawasaki Team) an equally lonely fourth with Josh Day (Agro-On Wil Racedays Honda) and Hungarian Balazs Nemeth (Pedercini Kawasaki) taking 5th and 6th positions at the end of an exciting 14 lap race.

Assen winner Kevin Valk (MTM Kawasaki) and Kevin Calia (Nuova M2 Racing Aprilia) collided, the result being that they both crashed out, thankfully uninjured.
