Confirmed: Terol to miss Imola, back at Donington
Althea Racing rider ruled out of Round 5 after Assen crash.
After crashing out of Assen’s second World Superbike race on Sunday, Nico Terol has undergone a further medical check in Valencia. Doctors have confirmed that the radial fracture to his right hand will not require surgery, although it will need some time to recover and for that reason the Spaniard will not race in the next round.
Terol was attended to by Dr. Vicente Vila of the Gastaldi Clinic in Valencia. As the fracture is ‘clean’, Dr. Vila decided that an operation would not be necessary, although the injury will need sufficient time to heal properly, thus Terol will remain on the sidelines during the Imola weekend of 8-10 May.
The 125cc World Champion of 2011, who is making his WorldSBK debut this year, highsided out at Assen’s Turn 4. As well as concussion and the aforementioned wrist injury, he also suffered multiple bruising to the body due to a heavy landing.
Following his convalescence, Terol will race again at Donington Park on 24 May.
