Earlier today a selection of leading riders from the WorldSBK paddock took part in the Pre-Event ahead of the Nilox Portuguese round of this year’s championship. They were joined by local WSS rider Miguel Praia who will deputise for the injured Kieran Clarke aboard the CIA Landlords Insurance Honda in World Supersport this weekend, and were given a taste of the new tourist region at the nearby Lagos resort.

Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team), Jordi Torres (Aprilia Racing Team – Red Devils), Michael van der Mark (Pata Honda World Superbike Team), Ayrton Badovini (BMW Motorrad Italia), Matteo Baiocco (Althea racing), Leon Camier (MV Agusta Reparto Corse), Randy de Puniet (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki), Christophe Ponsson (Team Pedercini) and Miguel Praia travelled a short distance from the Portimao circuit to ‘Lendas Bar’, a new venue within the tourist resort on the Algarve coast. A DJ set was then performed by an upcoming local DJ before traditional Portuguese food was served on the terrace in the sunshine.

A short Q and A for the attending members of the public took place before the attending riders took time to sign autographs and pose for photos, before returning to the circuit for their final preparations ahead of the #PortimaoWorldSBK on-track action that begins tomorrow with the opening Free Practice sessions for all classes.
