Althea Head Home for the Adriatic

Round 8 is back on home soil for Althea Racing as the team search for more momentum at Misano

After an impressive start to the season for both Jordi Torres and his rookie teammate Markus Reiterberger, Althea BMW had a more difficult weekend at Donington Park in the UK, and are looking to push forward into the top 4 once again as the paddock returns to home soil on the Riviera di Rimini.

Torres and Reiterberger both count themselves as fans of the track, with Torres ending his rookie weekend at the Italian track with a best of P7 in 2015, and Reiterberger managing a P13 as a wildcard.

“We arrive at Misano with a real desire to do well, also because this is an important track for the team,” said Torres, whose best result so far in 2016 is an impressive P4 – the top finish for a BMW. “It’s a good track, in the sense that it was resurfaced not long back and so offers good grip. We’re still developing the bike, working to continue to improve our performance. The Misano circuit could be a good one for the BMW, but we need to focus on the tight turns where we struggle more and also on the engine brake. We’ll see what happens, we need to really make the most of what we have to do as well as possible.”

“I’m feeling fit and have been doing a lot of training with MX and speedway in recent days, and now I’m really looking forward to Misano,” added Reiterberger. “Last year was my first experience of riding at Misano in WorldSBK but I have really good memories as in the very first session, I finished fourth. I hope we can complete good races this coming weekend, starting with a solid performance right from Friday’s sessions in order to find a good setting and be well prepared for the two races.”

Friday practice begins at 10:15am (GMT +2) on Friday 17th June at Misano World Circuit, ahead of lights out for Race 1 at 13:00 on Saturday, with Race 2 at the same time on Sunday as the Adriatic coast hosts another weekend of WorldSBK action.
