Difficult Day 1 but good room for improvement for MV Agusta rider

Leon Camier missed the first session on track at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, with some technical problems that sadly saw the MV Agusta Reparto Corse rider remain in the garage. Back out in FP2 Camier found quick progress heartening, and is now focusing on making the most of the remaining track time ahead of the Racing that begins on Saturday at 14:30 (GMT-7). Not quite through into Tissot-Superpole 2, the Brit does however count on the extra time on the circuit afforded by going through the Superpole 1 qualifying session.

“We had a few little issues,” explained Camier. “Missing a session makes a massive difference when you’re looking for those last few tenths that make the difference in a race. Even things like tyre choice – we’re going to have to make a gamble. We’ve got 15 minutes for Warm Up and then Superpole, but we needed a bit more time to get into the top ten and get the bike set up.

We’ll see what happens tomorrow, but we made some quite big progress quite quickly and consistency wise I think we’re ok, so I need to be able to do a quick lap, and then in the Race hopefully everything goes ok. It was definitely better today than I expected but we’ve got to make a step for tomorrow.”

The MV Agusta rider finished both races in the top ten at Laguna Seca in 2015, and will be looking for the same or better in 2016 as the Italian marque continue to move up the grid and make an impression on the top 5 battle.
