Dominant Dry and Wet Uncertainty: Highlights of Lausitzring

The Pirelli German Round kept everyone guessing

After his DNF at Laguna Seca followed by the long summer break, Jonathan Rea arrived at the Lausitzring prepared to fight to maintain the gap he’d created in the overall points standings to his main rival and teammate Tom Sykes, who had gradually chipped away at the gap with his victory in the United States.

Tom Sykes was able to strategically add to his points chase on Rea, while local hero Markus Reiterberger and 2014 WorldSBK Champion Sylvain Guintoli returned to action in Germany after injuries saw them sit out the last few rounds, and ambitions were high for Reiterberger who sought to impress in front of his home crowd.

Kenan Sofuloglu Controlled the weekend in typical fashion while the anticipation was high ahead of the STK1000 race to see how the battle would resume between Championship rivals Raffaele De Rosa and Leandro Mercado.
