American Honda rider ready for next WorldSSP challenge

Honda World Supersport rider PJ Jacobsen had a difficult race at MotorLand Aragón, failing to see the flag after an early challenge for the lead of the race saw the title challenger crash out.

Jacobsen was attempting to pass reigning WorldSSP Champìon Kenan Sofuoglu for the lead of the race on the opening lap; the American trying to take advantage of a small mistake by the defending title holder. It is the first DNF of the season for the Honda rider, who had shown good pace at MotorLand Aragón and will be encouragement by that apropos the rest of the season.

“I’m really sorry for what happened in the race today. I was trying to get an early lead just like in Thailand but I pushed too much and crashed out,” explained last year’s runner up. “It’s a shame really, because the team did a great job this weekend and I felt I had what it takes to fight for the podium. I just need to move on now, refocus and make sure I’ll be ready for Assen.”

Jacobsen is now fifth in the World Supersport standings after having proven a consistent contender once again in 2016. He lies 31 points shy of current leader Randy Krummenacher. The next round of the 2016 FIM Supersport World Championship will take place at the TT Circuit in the Netherlands on the 15th to 17th of April, with the American hoping to take home another great haul of points.
