Manufacturers Award Chances at the Gaerne Spanish Round

Kawasaki on the home straight to second title

Heading into the Gaerne Spanish Round, Kawasaki leads the Manufacturers Standings by 85 points. With 12 impressive wins so far this season, it means that there is a probable chance they will be celebrating their second Manufacturers Award this weekend at the Circuito de Jerez.

In WorldSBK only Kawasaki and Ducati are in contention for the title but as Kawasaki are so far ahead in the points, they only need one Kawasaki rider to finish on the podium in this weekend’s races to take the crown.

There are two chances ahead of Round 12 for them to seal the deal and the chances are as follows: Kawasaki will win as long as they leave the weekend with a 50 point lead and they could take the crown as early as Race 1 if they can maintain at least a 75 point lead over Ducati.

If Ducati are to beat Kawasaki in the overall standings, the title won’t be won in Jerez. The Italian manufacturer would have to win both races at the Gaerne Spanish Round and the first Kawasaki home would have to be in fourth or lower for the battle to continue. Basically, Ducati need to finish the Gaerne Spanish Round first and at least 11 points ahead of the Japanese manufacturer in both races just to keep the championship alive until the final Round in Qatar.
