Giugliano set to step in for Laverty at MotorLand Aragon
Italian rider returns to WorldSBK with Milwaukee Aprilia
As Eugene Laverty (Milwaukee Aprilia) continues to recover from injury sustained in Thailand’s race two, it has been announced today Davide Giugliano will take his place on board the RSV4 1000RR machine at MotorLand Aragon, TT Circuit Assen and possibly Imola.
Irish rider Laverty is expected to sit out of the next three WorldSBK rounds as he recovers from a broken pelvis, and the experienced rider of Guigliano will step in as he looks to continue the strong development with the Italian machine. Competing in 120 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship races so far in his career, the Italian rider is familiar with the series and the circuits, meaning the transition will be an easy one.
With eight appearances around MotorLand Aragon in the past, seven of which he has finished in the top ten, he looks forward to the weekend ahead: "First of all I'm sorry for what happened to Eugene in Thailand and I hope he can get back on his bike as soon as possible. I want to thank Shaun Muir and the Milwaukee Aprilia team for allowing me to stand in and for their cooperation. We only have a short time to prepare but the upcoming rounds are at tracks I know very well, and I have great confidence in the experience and professionalism of the crew.”
