Razgatlioglu renews with Kawasaki Puccetti for 2019
Turkish rider to remain with Reggio Emilia team through next season
After his amazing Race 2 podium finish at the Prosecco DOC UK Round, the good news keeps coming for Turkish sensation Toprak Razgatlioglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing), as his team confirmed that he will continue to ride for Kawasaki Puccetti Racing next season.
The deal, agreed at Assen between team manager Manuel Puccetti and Razgatlioglu’s manager and mentor Kenan Sofuoglu, will keep the young Turkish rider and the Kawasaki Puccetti team together for the 2019 season, which will be his second in the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship.
The 21-year-old from Alanya joined the Kawasaki Puccetti team back in 2015, riding for them in the European Superstock 600 Championship and winning the title in his first year. Razgatlioglu then moved up to the European Superstock 1000 Championship for 2016 and 2017, still with the team from Reggio Emilia. In the latter year, Razgagtlioglu was very close to winning the title, racking up three race wins and finishing the season runner-up to Michael Ruben Rinaldi.
Since making the move up to WorldSBK just this year, Razgatlioglu has made several top-10 finishes, with his second place last Sunday at Donington Park his best result and first podium. After six rounds, he sits eighth in the championship standings on 78 points, the best rookie so far in 2018.
Speaking on the announcement, Razgatlioglu showed his gratitude at the opportunity: “Since 2015 we have been making a lot of success together and recently I was able to make my first podium in WorldSBK at Donington. The package is one of the best available and race after race we are making progress together. Knowing that I will be able to keep growing with this team next season is a motivation for me to do my best always. I will work hard to get as soon as possible more important results for me and for everyone that believes in me!”
Team manager Manuel Puccetti, meanwhile, is satisfied at securing the young prospects talents for another season: “Together with the team this young talent has grown since his first season in STK600 until stepping up in WorldSBK this year. We wanted to keep him focused on the season by letting him be sure of being able to keep working with his crew next year. We all believe in his great talent and as he has already been proving to us we are sure that if we keep working hard with him also in 2019 we will soon be able see him grabbing other important results in the championship”.
