Soomer strides to seventh and best result of WorldSSP career!

Tuesday, 25 June 2019 11:29 GMT

The Estonian rider started from the head of row two before going on to have his best ride in his WorldSSP career!

It was one of the most positive weekends of the season for Hannes Soomer (MPM WILSport Racedays), as he finished a joint-career-best seventh place and comfortably top Honda at Misano. The 21-year-old Estonian rider has been a stand-out performer at times in 2019, with fourth place on the grid at Assen and Misano being highlights of his campaign thus far.

Misano was arguably more impressive, as he remained with the leading group in the opening laps and finishing just under 15 seconds behind race winner, Randy Krummenacher (BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Team). Soomer’s best result of the season will act as a springboard for further progression in 2019, as the MPM WILSport Racedays Honda rider seeks to continue developing himself and the bike.

Reviewing his weekend, Soomer said: “This was surely the best weekend of the season so far. We were strong from Friday and had a really good Tissot Superpole on Saturday. I was expecting a little bit more from the race on Sunday but unfortunately in these conditions I couldn't go with the front group. Now we analyse where we lost the most and will try to improve for Donington.

With Soomer’s seventh place, it is the best result for an Estonian rider in WorldSSP. In the full race results, there were six different nationalities inside the top ten in WorldSSP, meaning that every WorldSSP race in 2019 has had at least six different nationalities inside the top ten. Whilst scoring points at Donington Park in the last two seasons, he has yet to conquer the top ten.
