Marco Faccani ready to race WSS at Jerez
The 19 year old Marco Faccani will contest the last World Supersport round of the year this weekend at Jerez, with the Evan Bros Racing Honda Team. The youngster from Ravenna, who finished fourth this year in the Italian Supersport Championship after a tough finale in Mugello, has already made his debut in WSS at Imola last June. His maiden race in the series did not end up the best way, as Faccani crashed on the oil left by Valentin Debise before the Red Flag was waved.
"I'm really happy to be racing at Jerez" said Marco Faccani. "The track is new to me, but I was able to do some laps on my push-bike and I also got to know it through videogames. On my bike it will be a completely different thing, but I have to say the track looks very good and technical."
Scoring points is the target of Faccani, with an eye to a top-10 finish, that would mean an amazing result for both rider and team, who are planning a full-time involvement in World Supersport for next year. "We made some good progress since Imola, we will do our best even though we know the level of competition is very high. It would actually be great to be finishing in the top-10, but it won't be easy for sure."
"Our aim is to contest the whole 2014 season in WSS" he continues "but we are still working on it. Even the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup could be a good opportunity for me, as I'm quite tall (almost 6 feet). Obviously it would be easier for me to race in World Supersport as I've been riding a 600cc bike for the last three years."
