Nocco flies in STK600 Q1
Alessandro Nocco (San Carlo Team Italia Kawasaki) topped the timesheets in first qualifying at Magny-Cours for the Superstock 600 European Championship. The 16 year old rider, who made his debut in the series one year ago on the French track, clocked in 1'44.706 seconds in the closing stages of the session, followed by team mate and fellow Italian Franco Morbidelli, who crashed at the Adelaide hairpin (Turn 5) with few minutes left. Bastien Chesaux (EAB Ten Kate Junior Honda) and Christian Gamarino (Team Go Eleven Kawasaki) ended up third and fourth respectively while Robin Mulhauser (MTM-MVR Racing Yamaha) ended up in fifth place.
Several crashes occurred during the session, that was red flagged four times, involving also title contenders Gauthier Duwelz (MTM-MVR Racing Yamaha), eighth at the flag, and Tony Covena (Nito Racing Kawasaki).
