German success the icing on BMW's Superstock cake
For Ayrton and his entire BMW Motorrad Italia STK team this race was just as special as the previous round in Silverstone, where he won the championship with three races to spare. Nürburgring race was the first home round for BMW, and Ayrton and his crew were desperate to guarantee a German win to BMW as thanks for providing him with a bike which has taken every win so far, seven pole positions and five fastest laps.
"Eight races and eight wins it has been an incredible year," said Badovini after his latest triumph. "We have a nice team, a nice bike, and to win in Germany was very important for BMW. So to have achieved the victory at the Nürburgring makes us all very happy."
There are two races left for Badovini to push towards what would be a truly remarkable performance of ten wins out of ten. He is already the rider with the most career wins in this class - ten in total, eight for BMW and two for MV Agusta - and his motivation will be as high as ever, despite all his recent success.
