21 year old Swiss rider Schmitter has risen quickly into the WorldSBK spotlight after achieving his dream of competing in the top class, as he will in 2016. Schmitter debuted in the FIM Superstock 600 European Cup in 2013 and came 13th in his rookie year, before the next season saw him compete in three rounds of the WorldSSP Championship as a wildcard in anticipation for competing full time in the category the year after, which he did with Team Go Eleven. On a Kawasaki ZX-6R, the Swiss rider regularly scored points and recorded a season best finish of 8th at MotorLand, ending the year 14th in the title. Grillini Racing have signed Schmitter to ride one of their ZX-10Rs in 2016 in WorldSBK, pairing him up with Australian rookie Josh Hook.
