British rider Gino Rea is certainly not short of experience in the Supersport World Championship series, as the 27 year old heads into his fifth season in the category. Crowned European Superstock 600 champion in 2009 following three seasons in the class, Rea graduated up into the World Supersport class where he was able to secure podium finishes; he then made the move over to the Grand Prix paddock in Moto2™. He scored points and achieved a podium in Sepang in 2012 but then moved back to WorldSSP, where he was back to his race winning form. Securing some solid finishes in the championship standings over the past two seasons – with a top six last year - Rea switches to Team Kawasaki Go Eleven for 2017, where he will be focused more than ever on turning those podiums into wins.
