Lascorz and Kawasaki now a Supersport dream team
Joan Lascorz' move from top privateer in 2008 to factory Kawasaki Supersport rider got a truly measurable endorsement with a race win at Magny Cours.

His second career WSS victory came on the back of a season which has contained the highs and lows inherent in any championship campaign on an all-new model of machine, but as things stand Lascorz still has a chance of making the top three in the final championship rankings because he is only six points from Kenan Sofuoglu.

After the race in France Lascorz was quick to thank the people behind the scenes for all their help, saying "We have all been working for this for a long time, so I really want to dedicate it to my team and Kawasaki, who have helped to make this happen. The bike was very constant today and it even felt better at the end of the race than it did at the start. The braking felt easy this race and that helped me defend in corners as well as attack."

Magny-Cours was the first WSS win for a Kawasaki 600 since the Phillip Island race in 2007, the previous one being 2003 in San Marino - each victory coming from Fabien Foret. Further back in time, 2001 champion Andrew Pitt had two victories in 2002 for Kawasaki, but the top Kawasaki WSS win scorer of all is Scot Iain Macpherson, who secured three race wins in 1999, the first year WSS became a full FIM Championship.

The win for Lascorz was a particularly sweet one for his team as well as the rider himself, as this is the first season as an official team for the Provec Motocard.com squad, based near Barcelona in Spain. Both team and rider are back next year, and with a full winter of development the 600 Kawasaki is set to be an even more potent weapon in 2010, as Lascorz explained in France. "Our bike has been really good all weekend, and we are even now preparing the bike for next year, when I am sure there will be a big improvement again. Next race is Portimao and I am looking forward to it."
