Sandi joins Althea for FIM Superstock 1000 Cup
Althea Racing is preparing for a double challenge this weekend, as it will also line up in the Superstock 1000 category, bringing on board young talent Federico Sandi as rider. The 22 years old from Voghera, knows the Althea team well, having participated in the Italian Superbike Championship with the very same team last year, with some impressive results.
After the disappointment of finding himself without a ride just weeks before the start of the season, the Italian rider didn't lose hope and turned to team Althea, which has always held the rider in high regard. With the support of Ducati, the team has given Sandi the opportunity to put himself to the test in this championship. Federico is highly motivated and both the team and Ducati believe in his talents. During the Imola weekend, which will serve as a test bench for the rider, Althea will evaluate whether it can continue with the project for the rest of the year.
Genesio Bevilacqua, General Manager of Althea Racing, declared: "We're happy to welcome Federico back to Althea and Ducati, and to be able to give him this great opportunity. Unfortunately, only having such a short time to organize the team has meant that we have been particularly pressed during these last two weeks but I can say with satisfaction that we have nevertheless managed to put together an important team, that will give Federico the utmost support, as he works to achieve great results in the STK 1000 FIM Cup."
Federico Sandi: "I thank Genesio Bevilacqua, the Althea team and Ducati for this opportunity. This weekend I want to demonstrate my full potential and do my best of course. I like the track and I had a good feeling when I rode the Ducati 1198 in last year's Italian Championship, so I'm confident that I'll be able to put in a strong performance this weekend. Team Althea and Genesio Bevilacqua have shown that they believe in me as a person and as a rider, and so I will do my best to show them that their trust in me will be repaid."
