Mercado joins Team Barni Racing
The Barni Racing Team Ducati has signed a deal with Leandro "Tati" Mercado for the 2014 FIM Superstock 1000 Cup. The former Red Bulls Rookies Cup rider (2008) and AMA SuperSport Champion (2009) has a three-year experience in the series, with a best result of fourth in the standings in 2013 - along with one race win and four overall podium finishes. Mercado will get to grips with the Ducati 1199 Panigale in next week's test a Jerez, scheduled for November 27-29. The Italian team will also take the chance during the three days to evaluate other riders that will join Mercado next year in STK1000.
Team Manager Marco Barnabò said: "I'm really happy to welcome a young a talented rider like Leandro in our team. I'm sure he has got what it takes to defend our team colours the best way possible. We are going to work hard, starting from next week at Jerez, to make sure Leandro will get comfortable with the new bike straight away."
