The Italian rider is still evaluating some options for 2015.

2014 SBK EVO class runner-up Niccolò Canepa is still looking for a ride for next year, after seeing his partnership with the Althea Racing Team Ducati coming to an end following an up and down season. The 26 year old from Genova, Italy, is nevertheless happy about his 2014 EVO campaign especially in light of all the challenges he had to face and the problems occurred.

“It’s quite a strange situation for me as this year I was the runner up in the EVO class, four time as best classified in the race and nine times second” Canepa told WorldSBK.com. “I was fairly happy with my season but unfortunately I don’t have a ride at the moment. It happens. We are working on finding a good ride for next year and we will see what happens. For sure I would like to stay in World Superbike, that would be the best for me. It won’t be easy but we are working towards this. We are still evaluating all options, we have some good ones in World Supersport and STK1000 and we are also in talks about a WSBK ride. Next week I will take a final decision about 2015.”

“We were the only team fielding an EVO-spec version of the 1199 Panigale R so all the development of the bike was on our shoulder” continued Canepa. “We had no data available, apart from what was coming from the factory team, but the two machines were way too different to make a comparison. We also had to retire six times during races due to technical problems, meaning we lost many points along the way. Considering all this, I am happy of my 2014 season.”
