Jack Kennedy (CIA Insurance Honda) is still recovering from the ankle injury he suffered after crashing heavily during the official test at Phillip Island in February. The Irishman underwent surgery after the opening round to help speed up his recovery, but he is currently still not 100%.

"My recovery is a bit slower than I had hoped and my physiotherapy is actually very painful. I think it is because the bone I broke is the main ankle bone. In 2006 I broke my tibia, fibula and ankle of the same leg and had plates and screws removed one year later. After the crash at Phillip Island I had the option of having surgery and recover quickly or not have surgery and take a much longer recovery. Two screws were fitted through my ankle this time."

Despite the injury, Kennedy rode through the pain in the opening race until a technical problem occurred to his CBR600RR, forcing the rider to an early retirement and causing the race to be red flagged.
"Sometimes I ask myself what else could have gone wrong at Phillip Island? It just wasn't meant to be, and sometimes things like this can happen for a reason, to save you from something bigger happening, maybe? That's the way I have to look at it. I just have to laugh!"

The former British Supersport runner-up will take part in the second round of the season at MotorLand Aragon and will spend the remaining days before the event trying to further improve his physical condition.

"We are not going to do any testing before this round" Kennedy added "but I'm back at the gym, and training in the pool as well. I feel well physically and I don't think the ankle will give me any trouble at Aragon. I am already walking unaided – no crutches and no cast. I'm only in lots of pain when I have physio, so much so that I have to take painkillers afterwards!"
