Leon Haslam leads the field into the first Tissot-Superpole of 2015
Fastest lap of the weekend in FP3 as excitement for qualifying builds.
The final timed 45 minute session ahead of this afternoon’s Tissot-Superpole saw a number of key improvements from several riders as the fight for the ten automatic Superpole 2 places intensified.
Reigning champion Sylvain Guintoli (Pata Honda World Superbike Team) was the first to make the step forward elevating himself to 6th on only his 2nd flying lap of the morning.
As the final laps were completed and the session ended it was the Aprilia Racing Team pairing of Leon Haslam and Jordi Torres that were on top, displacing Alex Lowes (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki) who dropped to 3rd.
Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) improved to 4th ahead of Nico Terol (Althea Racing) and Chaz Davies on the official Aruba Ducati SBK Team entry.
Former champion Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) finished 7th on the combined times ahead of David Salom (Team Pedercini) and the Pata Honda duo of Sylvain Guintoli and Michael van der Mark who were 9th and 10th respectively.
Randy de Puniet (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki) narrowly missed out on the top ten as did superbike returnee Troy Bayliss (Aruba Ducati SBK) who must now take part in Superpole 1 with the other riders who placed 11th to 20th after combined Free Practice. The fastest two riders will join those already seeded, the 12 will then compete for the first Pole Position of the 2015 WorldSBK season.
Roman Ramos (Go Eleven Kawasaki) crashed at turn 6 and was taken to the medical centre for further checks.
