Aprilia rider unfulfilled following Magny-Cours frustrations.

Magny-Cours turned out to be a bittersweet weekend for Leon Haslam.

On Saturday, he crashed at the end of Superpole 2 but had still done enough to cement his second pole position of the season, as Jonathan Rea did not beat the quickest time.

Heading into race day, the Aprilia Racing Team – Red Devils rider was looking to end the European season on a high. However, Race 1 ended outside the points following a pit-stop while Race 2 delivered a fifth place finish.

“Something just didn't go right today,” Haslam commented. “Between Race 1 and Race 2 the guys changed everything, but we had the same problems. I'm disappointed because, after practice and taking pole position, I was sure that I could do well.

“In the first phases of the race I was even able to fight, but lap after lap things got harder and harder. Fifth place is definitely not the result we deserved today.”

Haslam is yet to confirm his plans for next year. For 2015, he switched to Aprilia after spending the previous two seasons with the Pata Honda World Superbike Team.
