Terol escapes frightening Donington crash
Spanish rider fortunate to avoid injury in Coppice scare.
Donington Park marked Nico Terol’s return to WorldSBK action, having missed the previous Imola round following a heavy crash at Assen.
Unfortunately for the Althea Racing rider, his second race retirement of the season came in Sunday’s second encounter, although he was fortunate to escape further injury when his Ducati highsided on the exit of Coppice corner.
“Coming back with the wrist injury, I knew I’d have to grit my teeth against the pain,” Terol explained. “I had problems changing direction, unable to push with my wrist. It was a shame about the Race 2 crash, but I’ll be ready to do better in a few days’ time at Portimao.
“The team deserves good results, to repay their encouragement and great work that they always put in for me, and I’m keen to achieve this as soon as possible.”
A further interview with Nico Terol will be featured in this week’s edition of After Hours, recorded at Donington Park and coming out on WorldSBK.com this Thursday.
