The Frenchman pleased with top five result at Jerez

Sylvain Guintoli (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) had a successful weekend at the Gaerne Spanish Round, which saw the Frenchman finish 6th in Race 1 and 5th in Race 2. He caught up with WorldSBK.com to discuss the positive weekend he had.

“Yeah today was a good day for us we had some progress from what was already a good day yesterday,” said the Frenchman. “I managed to keep a good pace in the second part of the race and didn’t lose too much at the start. I had a good pace and caught the group with the Kawasakis and Nicky (Hayden) and for us we have to take this as a big positive. More than anything I felt good with the bike, I felt good riding and I was really on the limit and really enjoyed riding this weekend. I feel that the attack is coming back, the feeling with the used tyres, everything is coming back really well and we were so close to the podium that at the end of the race I had no more to give as I was sliding a lot with the front part of the bike. I just tried my best but it just wasn’t meant to be.”

The World SBK paddock now heads to the final round of the season in Qatar. The Middle Eastern circuit stirs up wonderful memories for the Frenchman who won his 2014 Superbike World Title with a double win at the Losail Circuit.

“Obviously we’re just taking it race by race and we hope that we can be competitive there but we wont know until we get there. It’s a track I really like, so I’m looking forward to going to Qatar and you know, I’ve had good experiences there in the past I think it suits my riding style a lot so hopefully we can get some good results there.”

The Gaerne Qatar Round kicks off in two weeks time where Sylvain Guintoli will line up his Yamaha on the grid for the final time in 2016.
