WorldSBK debutant Fabio Menghi has been airlifted to hospital in Melbourne following a crash at Turn 11 in Tuesday’s opening test session at Phillip Island.

The Italian rider’s Ducati 1199 Panigale R was heavily damaged in the incident, while Menghi was taken to the circuit Medical Center for a check-up. The 30-year-old was initially diagnosed at the circuit Medical Center before being airlifted to Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, where confirmation came of an acetabular fracture (pelvis).
