Progress for Aprilia Rider De Angelis

Both IodaRacing riders again score points in Aragón

The second race of the weekend at MotorLand was characterized by progress for IodaRacing, with the riders able to cut the gap to the frontrunners by more than ten seconds off that of Race 1.

The comeback of Alex De Angelis was the surprise of the weekend for the Iodaracing Team. The rider from San Marino, who was to approach the Pirelli Aragon Round carefully after the surgery on his right arm a little over a week ago, managed to climb up from sixteenth on the grid to a strong eighth place finish. In the twenty laps of Sunday's race, De Angelis was able to make the most of the great engine of his Aprilia RSV4 RF and benefited from the good work done by his IodaRacing technicians, who managed to put together a good package for the race.

Race 2 was also positive for his teammate Lorenzo Savadori. The rookie was closer to the frontrunners in terms of time, although he did finish further back in positions. The reigning STK1000 Champion is still lacking a little grip but counts on a good weekend of racing experience with which to travel to the next round in Assen.

"This week end should have been races made more of physiotherapy but especially Race 2 has become an entirely positive race,” said DeAngelis. “What we need to do is kilometers and for that I would not have missed for any reason the weekend in Aragon, even after the surgery on the arm. Today we made a very risky move on the chassis set up, so we knew ours would have been a race where we had nothing to lose, but the changes made were really positive and helped us to know the bike better. I'm so glad to have managed a good comeback, getting the best result of the season. The race was very nice, I'm just sorry to be so far behind on the starting grid, otherwise my pace could afford to do even better in terms of result. I want to thank addition to the team who did also a good job over the weekend Dr. Guido Staffa who made the surgery on my right arm allowing me to run in this race at this level. Before Assen, I continue the therapy for the recovery of the functionality of the arm and for this I will take a handlebar of my RSV4 home so I can do a whole series of postural exercises that may be useful to me.”

"The race was quite positive,” agreed Savadori. “Especially for the fact that I've gained over ten seconds in terms of gap to the front riders. We are still working on the best set up. We know it is not easy but I'm sure that with the good work the boys of Iodaracing are doing and the Aprilia support, we can continue to get better and better. My goal is to improve every time on track and although this time it was not for the position, it was for the gap, we will try and go on like this."

The Aprilia duo will be back on track in Assen for the next Round of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship as the paddock heads to Holland.
