WorldSSP: Glenn Scott off to Barcelona for Surgery
Australian set to undergo further medical intervention after practice crash
Glenn Scott will likely undergo surgery on his fractured leg tomorrow in Barcelona, following an accident in opening practice for this weekend’s Aragon World Supersport Round. The surgery will take place at the Institut Universitari Dexeus hospital in Barcelona where they will operate on the double fracture of his left leg.
Scott suffered an open dislocated tibia fracture combined with a fractured fibula after he lost control of his Team Lorini Honda on the entry to Turn 2 at Aragon, sliding across the circuit before his bike made contact with Kyle Ryde. The WorldSSP rider told WorldSBK.com that he will miss at least the next two rounds of the Championship, in Assen and Imola.
"It's been a really frustrating 24 hours,” said Scott. “I can't believe it but that's racing and it was very unlucky. I'm getting transferred to Barcelona today and hopefully into surgery tomorrow. I might be at Imola if all goes to plan, but only to watch of course."
Aragón marks the start of the European season for the WorldSBK paddock, with the WorldSSP grid bolstered by the new ESS class, so Scott will be eager to get back in the thick of the action as soon as he can.
