Fans were treated to the first taste of racing action from the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship at the Pirelli Aragon Round, with a breathtaking display of racing action shown around the 5.007km circuit under the sunny Spanish skies.

Scott Deroue (MTM HS Kawasaki) took the debut win in the series following an 11 lap battle with Daniel Valle (Halcourier Racing) and Mika Perez (WILSport Racedays), and we finally got a taste of what is to come with the new series. Whilst the front three were battling for the glory, further down the field battles were coming thick and fast.

As riders take on the Road To WorldSBK, Great Britain have three riders representing the country, as their riders continue to fly in the premier WorldSBK class. Alex Murley (Team Toth), Chris Taylor (MTM HS Kawasaki) and Luke Hopkins (Hopkins Racing) are flying the flag for Team GB, and we take a look at how their debut went.

Alex Murley – Team Toth. Qualified - 17^th. Race - P13.

17 year old Murley spent last season the European Junior Cup and secured a top ten finish in the series, finishing in 14^th overall, so the youngster will be used to the high speed action of the new WorldSSP300 series. Signing with the experienced Team Toth for 2017, Murley has the backing of the Yamaha YZF-R3 and has been taking a steady start to the weekend. Completing free practise in the top 30, he went on to qualify in 17^th position in Superpole 1. Fighting through the pack in the windy conditions, Murely succeeded in scoring points in his debut World Championship race. He crossed the line in 13^th position after he was locked in a three way battle.

Chris Taylor – MTM HS Kawasaki. Qualified 13^th. Race – P16.

Narrowly missing out on a points scoring finish, Taylor will be hoping to build on his start in the WorldSSP300 class on board the Kawasaki Ninja 300. The 17 year old from Coventry made his first appearance on the world stage at MotorLand Aragon, after beginning his career in the Great British racing scene. Breaking into free practise with a top 17 finish, he used the green machine power to qualify in 13^th as he was one position off making it into Superpole One in sunny Spain. With the field filled with tense battles, Taylor ended up having a lonely race and crossed the line in 16^th. With his team-mate taking the race victory, it will be interesting to see how the team can work together ahead of the second round of the series in Assen.

Luke Hopkins – Hopkins Racing. Qualified 32^nd. Race – P22.

Hopkins had a tough opening weekend in the World Supersport 300 championship, as he adjusts to the Kawasaki Ninja 300 machine. One of the youngest riders on the grid at the age of 15, the British rider began his racing career out in feeder series back in the UK. In the hotly contested class he competed in, he secured some credible points scoring finishes in the tight fields around the British circuits. Hopkins was able to make a steady jump through the field in the 11 lap race, and crossed the line just outside the top 20.
