The first Round of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship is traditionally held far from the European Crowds, at the Phillip Island GP Circuit, Australia. However, the distance doesn’t stop fans from the world over gathering to witness the heart-stopping on-track action as the season kick-offs at one of the fastest and most scenic tracks on the calendar. Amazing save by Savadori at turn 11
Lorenzo Savadori (Milwaukee Aprilia) demonstrated the right way to save a high side turned tank slapper before it goes tragic. Quick reflexes and some extra throttle got Savadori through the potential disaster during FP1. Despite the huge wobble, Savadori kept excellent pace to round out the day in the top 10.

Rea & Savadori clash in MG corner
The reigning Champ had a close call with Italy’s Savadori heading out of MG corner during Friday Free Practice. Rea took the inside line as Savadori went wide on the notorious downhill turn.

Happy Rea celebrates double win at first round
After taking the first pole of 2017, North Irishman Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) then brought home victories in both races to celebrate with fans under blue skies at the Australian circuit.
