Camier: "We just need a bit of testing to play"
Another two top-ten finishes for the Red Bull Honda rider in Round Nine
Leon Camier (Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team) finished Race Two at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in tenth position, adding a second top-ten finish to his Riviera di Rimini Round after crossing the line in ninth in Race One.
The British rider may have been hoping for more after matching the top riders in free practice on Friday, but he still manages to leave Italy with thirteen points more, a step forward from the three he picked up at the GEICO US Round. It is also the first time in Camier’s MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship career that he makes it through Misano weekend with two finishes inside the top ten.
At the Riviera di Rimini Round the full potential of the CBR1000RR was not on display, according to Camier: “By the time the race comes and the hot conditions we seem to lose a bit of that speed. Or, not lost speed, just that everyone caught up and went faster and we really didn’t make too much progress. There’s definitely room for improvement on our side”.
“We just need a bit of testing to play, basically, see what we can come up with”, Camier adds. “Obviously in a race weekend there’s not a lot of time to mess around with things and try to come up with new ideas, but we’ll see after the summer break. I’m hoping to finish the season stronger”.
The Honda rider moves up one position in the championship standings to eleventh, leaping above Loris Baz (GULF ALTHEA BMW Racing Team) and Jordi Torres (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) ahead of the summer break.
