Independent rider secures third in the championship standings

Xavi Fores (Barni Racing Team) was happy with a top five finish in Sundays race two at the MOTUL Thai Round, the day after he secured his best finish of second position in race one. Starting from the third row of the grid, he was involved in the sensational battle in the opening laps.

Working his way through the field, the Spanish rider was able to make his way into the fight for podium and was lapping with a strong and consistent pace in the Thai heat. Facing the challenge of Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) in the closing laps, he was involved in a tough fight for fourth position. Fores was able to take fifth over the line, but was happy to end the weekend with two strong performances.

Sitting in third position in the world championship standings, Fores explains: “It was tougher than yesterday because the feeling with the bike wasn't the same. I suffered lack of confidence with the front and I was not able to ride like I could on Saturday. The fifth is good as well, especially for the Championship. I don't really like the Buriram circuit, but we were able to have such a strong pace and from now I want to start thinking at my home round.”
