Razgatlioglu to miss Race 2 at Laguna Seca
The Turkish rider suffered a nasty fall at the Corkscrew that left him unfit for tomorrow’s race
Toprak Razgatlioglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) will not take part in Race 2 at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, his team have announced at the conclusion of Saturday’s action in the GEICO US Round. The young Turkish rider has suffered a fracture in his big toe following an accident that ocurred with five laps remaining in Race 1, and it will prevent him from making it to the starting line on Sunday.
Razgatlioglu went down at the Corkscrew, a huge high-side going down the winding curve launching the Turkish rookie violently onto the asphalt. Luckily, there were no further serious injuries for the independent rider, but he will be forced to sit out tomorrow’s race.
Speaking after the incident, Razgatlioglu describes what happened at challenging turn 8: "It was really a very strange fall. I was at the entrance of the Corkscrew when I suddenly heard the rear throw myself into the air and I could not do anything to avoid the fall. Fortunately, I did nothing extremely serious. In addition to the big blow, I reported a micro-fracture to the big toe and for this I will not be able to run tomorrow. I do not need any intervention, but I can only come back at Misano. It's a pity to end the weekend like this. I really hoped I could do well”.
