Reigning World Supersport Champion Randy Krummenacher (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) ended the Jerez test in January as the rider to beat, with the Swiss rider making plenty of use of the wet weather running. Looking to give MV Agusta a first win in WorldSSP since Robby Rolfo at Phillip Island in 2017, ‘Krummenator’ and the MV Agusta squad will look to decipher the data and make the changes required before the Phillip Island WorldSSP test.

Back in the dry test at Jerez in November, Krummenacher ended day one on top in the dry before placing third overall, showing that he has got both dry and wet pace. The 29-year-old led an MV Agusta Reparto Corse 1-2 on Thursday and will be eager to spearhead the development of the bike.

“The weather definitely didn’t help us over the two days, and we couldn’t cover the kind of mileage we’d hoped to, but today we were able to make the most of the time we had once the track had dried. We’ve improved a great deal compared to the test we carried out here in November and yesterday, I had more fun in the wet than I’ve ever had with a Supersport! I am ready and very pleased to race in Australia with this bike, as I know we can do well. I am getting on increasingly well with the team and am sure that together we can achieve great results”.

Should Krummenacher become WorldSSP Champion for a second season on the bounce, he will become the first Swiss rider to achieve back-to-back solo FIM Road Racing World Championships since Stefan Dörflinger in 1984 and 1985, when he became the 80cc World Champion on a Zündapp and Krauser respectively. Krummenacher will also be looking to become the first WorldSSP rider to take back-to-back titles with different manufacturers in World Supersport history.
