Saturday, 29 August 2020 16:00 GMT

Make sure you take a look at the statistical guide to Sunday action with WorldSBK from Aragon set to continue ferocious battling

After a thrilling Saturday of 2020 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship action at the MotorLand Aragon circuit near Alcañiz, there’s plenty more to look forward to ahead of the remainder of the Prosecco DOC Aragon Round. From incredible victories, historic achievements and a Tissot Superpole session to remember, make sure you know the form guide going into Sunday.

  1. Scott Redding’s (ARUBA.IT Racing – Ducati) victory is the third of the season, which means that the last four races at Aragon have all been won by WorldSBK rookies.

  2. Redding’s victory also means that Ducati have won the last five races at Aragon too, a record started by Chaz Davies (ARUBA.IT Racing – Ducati) in 2018’s Race 2.

  3. The all-British podium after Race 1 at Aragon is the 53rd in WorldSBK.

  4. Scott Redding and Chaz Davies finishing in first and second makes it the second Ducati 1-2 of the year, the first time that they’ve had two in one season since 2011. If they achieve two more, then it’ll be the first time since 2010 that they’ve achieved this.

  5. Ducati haven’t achieved back-to-back 1-2 finishes since Imola in 2010 in Race 1 and 2: Carlos Checa won both but was ahead of Lorenzo Lanzi in Race 1 and Noriyuki Haga in Race 2.

  6. A top nine finish for Kawasaki in the Tissot Superpole Race on Sunday will be the 215th consecutive race in the points, a record that dates back to Aragon Race 2, 2012. Each one of those races have been top ten finishes.

  7. Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) took a 25th career pole position at Aragon. It was his first at the Spanish venue and is the fourth rider in history to reach 25 poles. Now, he is one behind three-time Champion, Troy Bayliss. It was also Kawasaki’s 90th pole position.

  8. Taking his worst Superpole result since Monza in 2011, Tom Sykes (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK) was only 14th. Eugene Laverty was only 18th, meaning it is the first time since Aragon in 2018 that there’s no BMWs on the front four rows of the WorldSBK grid after Tissot Superpole.

  9. With Leon Haslam (Team HRC) and teammate Alvaro Bautista sixth and seventh respectively, it is the first time since Magny-Cours in 2016 that two Hondas have been in the top seven after Superpole. It’s the first dry Superpole session to have this since Phillip Island the same year and the first time it has happened in Spain since Valencia in 2008.

  10.  Garrett Gerloff (GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Official Team) became the first American since Nicky Hayden at Assen in 2017 to qualify inside the top ten after Superpole. He is also tied with Hayden on the best Superpole result at Aragon for an American rider, in tenth.
