Ducati duo discuss day one of testing at Jerez
Michael Ruben Rinaldi and Scott Redding react after a disrupted day of testing at Jerez as rain prevents running from the ARUBA.IT Racing – Ducati team
It was supposed to be the first track action of 2021, but the weather had different ideas as rain prevented Scott Redding (ARUBA.IT Racing – Ducati) and teammate Michael Ruben Rinaldi from taking to the track on day one of a two-day test at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto. It means the duo will have to wait another day before taking to the track in 2021 as preparations for the season start to gear up.
Reacting to the day, Rinaldi, who is joining the factory Ducati team from Team GOELEVEN, said: “We didn’t test today because of heavy rain, which is unfortunate as yesterday and the day before the weather was great. We decided to stay in the box to not lose one day of testing. We are ready to start but we are waiting for dry conditions.”
Redding is heading into his second year with the team and revealed how he spent the day after rain stopped him getting out on track: “For me, it wasn’t too bad. Of course, I would’ve liked to have tested but, I think it is ten days now, we have a limit, we have to be a bit smarter with the days. It would’ve been no use to start the first test of 2021 in the rain. When it was raining at breakfast, I took it easy, I went to the gym and that was kind of it. I just relaxed for today after coming in from California yesterday, so I’mgetting over a bit of jetlag.”
