Responding in the perfect fashion: Rea tops Most Warm-Up session
Top three representing three different manufacturers separated by less than a tenth as Jonathan Rea leads the field on Sunday morning
Sunday action kicked off for the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship at the Autodrom Most with Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) claiming top spot in Sunday Warm-Up with the top three separated by less than a tenth ahead of Sunday’s two races at the Tissot Czech Round.
Rea crashed out of Race 1 yesterday with incidents at Turn 1 and Turn 20 throughout the 22-lap encounter, seeing his Championship lead cut to 12 points. He posted a 1’32.566s in the 15-minute session to go fastest, just 0.055s clear of Scott Redding (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) in second and Race 1 winner Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha with BRIXX WorldSBK) in third, 0.020s behind Redding.
Yamaha riders made up four of the top six with Garrett Gerloff (GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) claiming fourth spot, two tenths away from Rea. Italian rookie Andrea Locatelli (Pata Yamaha with BRIXX WorldSBK) was fifth after taking his second WorldSBK podium in Race 1 yesterday, while Marvin Fritz (IXS-YART Yamaha) was sixth on his WorldSBK debut.
Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) was seventh on his Ducati Panigale V4R while Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) claimed eighth place as he looks to bounce back from a crash in Race 1. Leon Haslam (Team HRC) and Michael van der Mark (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) rounded out the top ten.
