Viñales ruled out of Navarra Round after positive COVID-19 test
The Spanish rider will miss the first round at Navarra following the positive test result
Spanish rider Isaac Viñales (Orelac Racing VerdNatura) will not take part in the first-ever Pirelli Navarra Round after he tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the round, with the test result coming back on Thursday. Viñales would have been hoping to compete at the Navarra Round after seven points-scoring finishes in 18 races in his rookie campaign.
Viñales has a best result of 11th in the 2021 season which came in Race 1 at the Prosecco DOC Dutch Round after a solid start to his debut campaign, moving into the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship after two WorldSSP campaigns. In WorldSSP, Viñales claimed five podiums across his two seasons with a best Championship position of seventh. Following the positive COVID-19 test, Viñales will be forced to miss the Navarra Round.
