Mahias to miss Estoril Race 2 following Superpole Race crash
The Frenchman crashed out on the opening lap of the race and will now miss the final race of the weekend
Race 2 for the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship at the Circuito Estoril will not feature Lucas Mahias (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) after he sustained a fracture to his right fifth metacarpal bone following a crash in the Estoril Round Tissot Superpole Race. The crash occurred on the opening lap of the 10-lap race, which forced the Frenchman out. He was assessed at the medical centre and diagnosed with the fracture, putting him out of Race 2.
Mahias had qualified in tenth after Saturday’s Superpole session but dropped down the order in Race 1 to finish in 17th place. He was 19th in Sunday’s wet WorldSBK Warm Up session but did not finish the Superpole Race following his Turn 1 crash, which has now put him out for the final race of the Estoril Round.
