Oettl declared unfit in Estoril after heavy FP2 crash
The German rider was on for a good lap but crashed at the final corner and subsequently he has been declared unfit
Philipp Oettl (Team GoEleven) will miss the remainder of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship’s visit to the Circuito Estoril for the Estoril Round after fracturing his right collarbone in a crash during FP2. Oettl was looking to set a good lap time to move himself into the top ten, but a crash at the high-speed Turn 13 means he will now miss the remainder of the weekend.
In FP1, Oettl finished in 13th place on his first visit to Estoril on WorldSBK machinery as he looked to adjust to the circuit on his Panigale V4 R. He followed that up with 15th in FP2 although he had been on a lap that would have put him inside the top ten before his crash at Turn 13; in the combined classification, he was also in 15th place and just three tenths away from a spot in the top ten.
Super unfortunate crash for #5 Phillip Oettl right at the end of FP2
