Oettl unfit for Mandalika Race 2 in WorldSBK
The German rookie will miss the final race of the weekend in Indonesia
After his crash in Race 1 of the 2022 MOTUL Superbike World Championship’s Pirelli Indonesian Round, Philipp Oettl (Team Goeleven) will take no further action in the weekend. Oettl’s been declared unfit with suspected concussion and will be transported to RSUD NTB Mataram Hospital for further assessments. Arising symptoms following his 14th place in the Tissot Superpole Race led to the decision.
Oettl’s rookie season in WorldSBK has shown plenty of potential as he got used to the Team Goeleven Ducati Panigale V4 R, with top ten results coming on six occasions, with a best result of sixth coming at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. In the Championship standings, he is 13th, 21 points ahead of Lucas Mahias (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing), also out through injury. Oettl is 32 points behind Loris Baz (Bonovo Action BMW) in the standings.
