The Dutchman missed the season-opening Aragon Round through injury but will take to the track at Assen as he returns to WorldSBK competition

After injury ruled him out of the Aragon Round, Dutch rider Michael van der Mark (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) will be back on track when the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship visits the TT Circuit Assen for the Motul Dutch Round. With the 2022 season now underway, van der Mark is looking to get back on his BMW M 1000 RR and start his campaign in style in front of his home fans.

Van der Mark suffered a fractured leg when out on his mountain bike during preseason training and recently underwent surgery on the injury. With everything going well in his recovery from both the injury and surgery, van der Mark was assessed on Thursday ahead of the Dutch Round and will be on track to start his 2022 season alongside new teammate Scott Redding. Van der Mark will be reassessed following Friday’s Free Practice 1 session.

After missing three tests at the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli”, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and MotorLand Aragon, van der Mark was forced to sit out of the season-opening Aragon Round following his injury. With an extra two weeks of recovery since Aragon, the Dutchman will be looking forward to getting back on his back as he looks to start his campaign strongly.
