The Dutchman will be back in World Supersport in 2022 after an impressive end to 2021

The 2022 FIM Supersport World Championship grid keeps on growing as Glenn van Straalen becomes the latest rider to put pen to paper and be confirmed on next year’s grid. The Dutchman will continue his collaboration with the EAB Racing Team, hoping to build on his top ten results from the last rounds of the 2021 season. He is the 15th rider confirmed on the grid.

21-year-old van Straalen started his career in the WorldSBK paddock in the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship and scored two podium finishes: second twice during his home race at the TT Circuit of Assen in 2017 and 2018. In 2021, Glenn also raced in the German IDM Supersport championship and took the double at Assen to finish third in the final standings despite missing the last race weekend. His 2021 season in WorldSSP began at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya where he got off to a double top ten start, before taking a best result of eighth in Race 2 in San Juan, Argentina.

Speaking about his 2022 deal, van Straalen said: “I’m happy and proud that we can continue the hard work of 2021 and that I can race a full WorldSSP season. It’s also a great opportunity for me to once again measure myself against the best Supersport riders in the world. I can’t wait to start the season and have my fingers crossed that we can have a ‘normal’ race year, with spectators. Thanks to my family, sponsors and fans for the great support in 2021, I’m looking forward to see you all soon!”

Ferry Schoenmakers, team owner, is looking forward to the 2022 season: “We are delighted to confirm that Glenn van Straalen will remain with EAB Racing Team for 2022. Glenn has impressed me a lot this year, as he jumped on the EAB Racing Team Yamaha YZF-R6 for the first time in Barcelona and he was riding like he raced all year long in the World Supersport Championship! I'm sure that with a good winter test preparation, Glenn can make a lot of progress in 2022 and I can't wait for the start of the new season.”
