Alex Lowes ruled out of Race 2 following his Superpole Race crash at Aragon
The #22 was aiming for a podium finish on Sunday morning but a crash on the exit of Turn 1 means he’ll take no further part in the weekend
Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) has been declared unfit ahead of Race 2 at MotorLand Aragon following his Tissot Superpole Race. Lowes crashed on the exit of Turn 1 on the start of Lap 3, after he ran slightly wide. While trying to recover, he had a highside after the bike spat him off which ended his race. The #22 was taken to the medical centre for a check-up following the crash and was declared unfit for Race 2 after he was diagnosed with a left calf contusion and hematoma.
Lowes has been in fine form throughout 2024 with 11 podiums to his name – his highest tally in a single WorldSBK campaign and he sits fifth in the Riders’ Championship standings with 264 points. At Aragon, Lowes was quickest in Sunday morning’s Warm Up session as he showed his hand, but the crash means he won’t add to his rostrum tally this weekend and Aragon will become only the second venue this season the Brit hasn’t stood on the podium.
