“It was difficult to keep believing at some points… to be World Champion again is really special” - Carrasco

HISTORY MAKER: 2024 will be a year to remember

Ana Carrasco (Evan Bros Racing Yamaha Team) is a two-time World Champion following her success in the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship. The #22 added that title to her 2018 WorldSSP300 Championship to make history in motorcycle racing. Third place in Race 2 at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto was enough to give Carrasco the inaugural Championship on a historic day at the Prometeon Spanish Round.

SPANIARD WINS IN SPAIN: 27-year-old on top at home

Maria Herrera (Klint Forward Factory Racing) was within touching distance of the Championship, as the rivals had 13 points between them heading into the final race of the season in Jerez. However, a devastating crash for Herrera at the final corner on the final lap meant Carrasco was crowned Champion after a strategic Race 2 performance. She finished in third position behind Sara Sánchez (511 Terra&Vita Racing Team) and Beatriz Neila (Ampito / Pata Prometeon Yamaha) in first and second.

FIRST WORLDWCR CHAMPION: #22 has two world titles to her name

On making more history as she was crowned Champion, Carrasco said: “I’m super happy. It was a difficult season, we had to manage a lot of things on and off track. I gave my best every race to try to achieve these results. I couldn’t be happier. To be World Champion once is incredible, twice is crazy! I want to say thanks to my team because they did a good job all season, they pushed me all season. For me, they are the best.”

FROM INJURIES TO CHAMPION: A difficult road to glory

Explaining what it meant to her, Carrasco added: “It means a lot. Especially because the last three or four seasons, the back injury, last year with the leg injury, difficult seasons in WorldSSP300 and then Moto3™. At some point, you ask what’s happening. It was difficult to keep believing at some points. To be World Champion again is something really special. I proved to myself that I am still a winning rider and a World Champion.”
