The Spanish rider was pushing on his first flying lap to fight for a good grid position but a crash at Lukey Heights has ended his weekend early

Iker Lecuona (Honda HRC) will take no further part in the season-opening Australian Round after he crashed during the Tissot Superpole session. The Honda star was on his first flying lap as he pushed for the best possible grid slot, but he fell at the iconic Lukey Heights corner with his crash bringing out the red flags. The #7 was taken to the medical centre for a check-up follow the crash and was diagnosed with a fracture to the fourth metatarsal bone in his left foot, which has now ruled him out of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship action for the remainder of the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

Lecuona has endured a troubled winter heading into the 2025 season, with a training crash leaving him injured. He was forced to miss the Jerez test but was back on his CBR1000RR-R machine at Portimao the following week. He had a couple of extra weeks to recover before heading to Australia, but he was still not 100%, lapping off the pace expected during both the Official Test and the round. Although he was pushing hard in Superpole, Lecuona will take no further part in the round.
