Pirelli unveil allocations for Cremona, development SCX included again

Wednesday, 30 April 2025 07:22 GMT

The Official Tyre Supplier to WorldSBK continue to innovate as the development SCX tyre gets a second consecutive outing after positive feedback from Assen

Pirelli have revealed their tyre allocation for the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship visit to the Cremona Circuit, with no changes from the tyres available last time out in the Netherlands. That means there will be two SCX tyres to choose from at the Acerbis Italian Round, with one standard and one development, while the SCQ tyre is available for the Tissot Superpole session and Tissot Superpole Race.

REAR TYRE OPTIONS: one development, SCQ available

With the allocation the same as the Dutch Round, riders will be able to choose from four different rear tyres across three compounds. For the long races, the standard SC0 soft and SCX supersoft will be available, but they will also be joined by the E0126 development supersoft. This tyre made its debut at Assen and was widely used in the dry races, with Pirelli receiving positive feedback due to its aim of providing greater stability and consistency over a race distance. For the Superpole session on Saturday and Superpole Race on Sunday, riders will be able to fit the standard SCQ extrasoft tyre. In the event of rain, it’s a choice of the standard intermediate and standard rain tyres.

FRONT TYRE SOLUTIONS: two standard solutions

For the front tyre choices, it’s between two slick tyres from the standard range. The softest of the pair is the SC1 medium, while the harder option is the SC2 hard; this tyre offers better mechanical resistance and greater protection from wear compared to the SC1, although the SC1 tyre is the most widely-used one as it adapts well to different characteristics at various circuits. If there’s a wet race, teams can use the standard intermediate at the front or the standard SCR1 rain tyre, plus there’s a development rain tyre too, the E0158.

WORLD SUPERSPORT CHOICES: standard solutions for front and rear

For the WorldSSP field, there are two front and two rear choices in the dry with all coming from the standard range. At the rear, the SCX superspoft and SC0 soft are the tyres to choose from while, at the front, it’s the SC1 medium and SC2 hard tyres. In case it rains, riders will be able to fit the standard SCR1 tyre at the front and rear.

PIRELLI SAYS: “The E0126’s innovative casing — the same as the E0125 specification with soft compound, successfully introduced in Portimao — has received widespread acclaim”

Explaining the tyre allocations for Cremona, Giorgio Barbier, Motorcycle Racing Director at Pirelli, said: “The new development rear in E0126 specification with supersoft compound in Holland was the most used solution in dry races. For this reason, it will be offered for Cremona as well, alongside the standard SCX. Its innovative casing — the same as the E0125 specification with soft compound, successfully introduced in Portimao — has received widespread acclaim thanks to its greater stability given by a larger footprint and consistent performance over distance. It proved to be particularly effective for those riders who managed to finalise the set-up of the bike in the best possible way, also considering the unusually high track temperatures recorded at Assen in Race 1 and Race 2. In 2024, the supersoft solutions were the favourites at Cremona: if the weather conditions permit, it will be interesting to collect further data and make new comparisons. In addition, the development front rain tyre in E0158 specification has also been included in the allocation, which made its debut with excellent results in the Superpole Race of the Dutch Round. This tyre has gained the trust of most riders, receiving very positive comments thanks to the increased footprint which has improved grip and stability."
