Italian rider Andrea Locatelli is entering his fourth season in WorldSBK and remains with the Pata Prometeon Yamaha team he’s been with since his debut. While Toprak Razgatlioglu has departed, ‘Loka’ has a new Champion teammate at the Yamaha team with Jonathan Rea alongside him for this season. Locatelli has 14 podiums to his name, but a first win still eludes him, could that change in 2024?
Having been on the podium in Moto3™ and a top six finisher in Moto2™, Locatelli came to the WorldSBK paddock and took 12 wins in World Supersport and the title with ease. Graduating to WorldSBK in 2021, he led a race for the first time at Assen, finishing third in the end and taking a first podium. Locatelli had a rollercoaster 2022 campaign on his way to fifth in the Championship but 2023 was comfortably his best season – with 8 podiums (in 2021 and 2021, he recorded 6 combined) and fighting with Rea for third in the standings.
