Axel Bassani made an instant impact in WorldSBK having claimed a podium finish for the Independent Motocorsa Racing outfit in 2021, his rookie season. He remained with the team for a second year in 2022 and took two more podiums while he was also a common sight at the front of the field, regularly battling for podium positions. 2023 was a similar story – podiums but no wins – and a top-six finish in the Championship earnt him a seat at Kawasaki for 2024.
Taking on the European Superstock 600 championship in 2015, he took a podium out of two races he competed in. Stepping into WorldSSP in 2016, Bassani won the European Supersport Cup in the final round at Jerez with San Carlo Team Italia. 2017 welcomed the then-18-year-old into the Moto2™ World Championship for four races and WorldSSP for two races, where he took two credible points scoring finishes.
His time at Motocorsa Racing was memorable, with ‘El Bocia’ consistently fighting at the front and claiming emotional podiums on home soil at Misano and Imola in 2023. With a factory seat secured for 2024, alongside Alex Lowes, the #47’s target will be to continue adding podiums to his name as well as potentially securing a maiden WorldSBK victory.
