Spanish rider Iker Lecuona heads into 2025 on the back an excellent end to his 2024 season which culminated in a podium at Estoril. A training injury pre-season put him on the back foot heading into winter testing but with Honda appearing to be at least where they ended last season, the #7 will be confident of a strong 2025.
Honda (2022-)
Lecuona made the switch to WorldSBK for the 2022 season and has been a Honda rider throughout his time in the paddock. His only pole came in his rookie season, on home soil in Barcelona, while he has two rostrums to his name: at Assen in the same season and Estoril in 2024. It’s been a turbulent time as Honda look to make gains with their CBR1000RR-R machine, but it appears some stability has been found heading into 2025.
Before WorldSBK
Lecuona’s first foray into Moto2™ came as a replacement rider for Dominique Aegerter, but he made a full-time switch to the Championship the following year although headed into it on the back of an injury-hit winter. Remaining in the Championship, he took a first rostrum at his home Grand Prix in Valencia before taking a second rostrum in 2019. He made his MotoGP™ debut the same year as a replacement rider on KTM machinery ahead of a full-time switch with Tech3. After two seasons in MotoGP™, Lecuona moved across to WorldSBK with the factory Honda team.
